Hello, and welcome to our How-To set of tutorials, where we bring you practical tips and step-by-step instructions to help you master this website. Today, we're diving into an exciting topic that's sure to pique your interest.

In this tutorial, we're going to learn how to use the Print Editor. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced graphic designer seeking to enhance your expertise, this tutorial will guide you through the process with clear and concise instructions.

We'll start by laying a strong foundation, covering the basics and building up from there. You'll soon discover that the Print Editor is a tool that anyone can learn.

Step 1 - Login

If you're not there already, go to Scanpack.ca and login to your account. 

Step 2 - Box Selection

From there, choose from our unique selection of boxes: Influencer box, Carrier box, Open End Box, Shipper Box, Onboarder Box, or Gifting Box. 

Make sure you pick a size, print option, and quantity. Quantity can be changed before placing the final order.

Once you have done that, click customize.

Step 3 - Layout

Uploads

This side bar will allow you to add any files you require to build your design. Just click upload and choose the necessary files. You may also drag and drop onto the panel if it is easier. 

Files accepted are EPS, AI, SVG, PSD, JPG, PNG, and TIF. 

Images

This side bar is very similar to the upload side bar. The main difference is this section will only pull images from your account that have already been used. 

Files accepted are EPS, AI, SVG, PSD, JPG, PNG, and TIF.

The other major attraction is our stock photo link that allows you to utilize any royalty free imagery on your template! Just click 'Pixabay' and search for the desired image. 

Backgrounds

This side bar is the main part of your design. It will allow you to automatically add an array of templated backgrounds to your design. All designs are also seamless and sizeable to fit any template!

Elements

This side bar allows you to add standard shapes and designs to your template. Each object is setup so it may be formatted to any colour after it is placed. 

Layers

This side bar allows you to view and edit all objects being used in your design. This is also helpful in arranging images from front to back. 

Text

This side bar allows you to add text and view any options like font type, style, size, and colour. 

Top Menu

The main function of the top bar is to open or save your projects. This allows you to make edits over time, or even share with a colleague. 

Dieline

The most important part of the Print Editor. This show you the outline of the template as well as guidelines that will help you design the perfect box! 

The template is locked, so don't worry about deleting anything.

3d Preview

The 3d preview is the newest function to the Scanpack website. It allows you to view your design in real time as you design it! Click and hold on the box to move it around. 

Step 4 - Design

Start off with a background

When designing, your background is one of the most important tools you can use. Choose either plain or seamless patterns. 

Once you have the background picked out, you can change the colour, scale, rotation, and offset of the background template. 

Add any images

You can either add your own images, or utilize our online stock photo browser. All images are pulled directly from Pixabay, which is a royalty free image service. 

Image options

Once you have picked the right image, you can change a multitude of options. 

1. Crop - remove the right, left, top or bottom of the image. 

2. Effects - Change the opacity, brightness, contrast, hue, or saturation. You can also add a border, or a drop shadow. 

3. Rotate - Rotate an image so that it fits the direction of the template perfectly. 

4. Mirror - This function will reverse the image.

5. Enlarge - This enlarges the image to fit the page. 

6. Delete - Deletes the selected image. 

7. Confirm - Accepts the final image and adds it to the final design. Don't worry, you can still select and make changes. 

Image Editing

In the layers panel, you can arrange the image so that it move in front of images or behind. 

Other options are copy, delete, size, rotation and placement. 

Creating overlays or adding logos

When you add elements to your design, you can quickly change the colour by selecting the colour square in the top left. 

Adding Text

This panel allows you to add text and view any options like font type, style, size, and colour. 

In addition, you can change alignment, leading, tracking, opacity, add an outline or drop shadow. 

Step 5 - Final Design Step

Previewing your master piece

Once you have confirmed you have the perfect design, click 'Review & Buy'. This will take you to the final preview screen. 

You can right click and hold on the box to rotate it 360 degrees. This step also gives you a chance to view how the box is folded by clicking the 'fold' and 'unfold' option in the bottom left. 

Step 6 - Confirmation

Purchase or save. 

At this point your design is confirmed. Take this time to review the final specs of the box before adding it to your cart. 

Remember, you need to click the design approval check to be able to add to your cart.
